The week of Aug 14, 2017 – Aug 27, 2017
Very satisfactory side project progress…
Monday: Gym: weights, good workout, pushed myself. Worked on my codeproject article. Finished reading Into Africa, by Martin Dugard.
Into Africa: The Dramatic Retelling of the Stanley-Livingston Story by Martin Dugard
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Fascinating and well researched.
Tuesday: Dentist appointment for a broken tooth. Fortunately it was no big deal to reconstruct. And x-rays confirm the abscess I had last month appears to have cleared up. More work on the article.
Wednesday: Published the codeproject article on my concave hull hobby project. Pleased. Gym session with Johnny. Substantial Coursera studies work.
Thursday: More Coursera work.
Friday: An old article of mine on Codeproject became the featured article today. Two articles on the same front page!
Didn’t handle well an inter-colleague dispute well. It reflected worse on me than him, even though he was unreasonable.
Friday: Worked on a CodeEval challenge that would benefit from this week’s Coursera assignment.
Saturday: Completed the CodeEval challenge which required very close reading of the challenge description to get right. Lunch with mom at Ferryman’s. Sad news from Paul with his father passing away. Grocery shopping. Decadent hot chocolate. Watched a couple episodes of Taboo.
Sunday: Tokai park walk. A little satisfying DIY and then managed to break my lounge door. Frustrating. Cleaning up the glass took well over an hour. Lunch with mom. Quiet afternoon. Ubuntu virtual machine frustrations. Easier to install a new one. Watched more of Taboo.
My work week was divided into: 100% bug fixing.
Podcasts listened to this week: CppCast, NPR: How I Built This, NPR: What It Takes; BBC Books & Authors; Software Engineering Radio; Tim Ferriss; TWIT Triangulation.
