Week 309

The week of Aug 7, 2017 – Aug 13, 2017

Work, hobby project and reading …

Monday: Minor fender bender on the way to work. No harm done to either car, the other car didn’t even stop. Played squash with Dawie. Admin, Coursera work. Watched a bit of the partial lunar eclipse.

Tuesday: Started work on a Codeproject article to document my concave hull hobby project.

Wednesday: Public holiday. A very productive day. Mostly spent working on my hobby project. But also did some DIY jobs, got to gym, and finished reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Absolutely engrossing, though dark and unsettling. Good characterisations and a riveting plot.

Thursday: Library visit. 10 minutes in the library but 2 hours in the traffic getting there and home again. Side project work.

Friday: Grocery shopping. Coursera work. This week’s Coursera work has been the toughest yet of the data structures specialisation.

Saturday: Getting my side project ready for a code project submission is a classic example of the 80/20 principle where 80% of the time is getting it from satisfactory to completion. Lunch with mom and reading on the sofa. Watched The Breakfast Club on ShowMax. Good 80s fun.

Sunday: Gym spin class. Lunch with mom at Bihari, Newlands. Slow afternoon didn’t reading. Chores, etc.

My work was divided into: 80% testing, 20% bug fixing.

Podcasts listened to this week: Tim Ferriss #257; CppCast; HanselMinutes; How I Built This (x2); Red Hot Poker; TED Radio Hour; Making It;
