The week of 2013/02/11 – 2013/02/17
New car to offset work stress…
Monday: Some C++11 coding, admin, reading.
Tuesday: Met with a Securawindow rep for burglar bar quotes. Body corporate meeting, junk-food dinner guilt, reading.
www.mymtn.co.za pathetically useless in functionality, slow, dumb, and seems to require IE. Sucks.
Wednesday: Hello Kia Rio: took delivery of my new car!
So on my work computer I have Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010, and a Virtual Box instance with Visual Studio 6 (yes, really) and now 2003 as well. And we have a complicated reliance on all of them. Forget DLL hell, this is IDE hell.
Thursday: Gym: super circuit, reading.
Friday: Took my car for an insurance inspection, first literary event of the year: a talk at the wonderful Kalk Bay Books by the Cape Town map maker Peter Slingsby with Helga, two-for-one gourmet burger special at Tribeca bakery.
Note to self: Support independent bookshops more.
Saturday: Lazy day, mainly reading – finished The Angel’s Game by Carlos Ruiz Rafon, Silvermine river walk, watched some Walking Dead.
Sunday: Climbed Platteklip Gorge, found it much tougher than I remember. Some family time. Noticed some unusual ground-nesting birds in my mother’s garden. Scheme language readings, early to bed.
